Systems Engineer

Position Overview

Systems Engineer (Lead) to join our team at Kirtland Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading systems engineering efforts, with a strong background in SEAMS and working within Air Force Base (AFB) environments. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage complex systems engineering projects, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and ensure successful delivery of mission‑critical systems.

Location: Kirtland AFB, NM, 87417

• Lead and manage systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, from concept development through deployment and sustainment.
• Apply SEAMS (Systems Engineering and Management System) methodologies to ensure compliance with Air Force standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with stakeholders at Kirtland AFB and other Air Force entities to define system requirements and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
• Develop and maintain system architectures, interface control documents, and technical data packages.
• Oversee risk management, verification and validation, and configuration management processes.
• Mentor and guide junior systems engineers and technical staff.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for leadership and external customers.

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer Lead, preferably within a military or Air Force Base environment.
• Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with SEAMS methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with Air Force Base operations, standards, and security requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross‑functional teams effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one is required.
