We are seeking a dedicated R&D Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Weapon Compatibility Engineer.
Responsibilities- Define and document comprehensive technical strategies to assert weapon system compatibility with delivery platforms through test, demonstration, inspection, and/or analysis methodologies.
- Collaborate across organizations to ensure traceability to overarching systems engineering efforts.
- Lead large‑scale cross‑agency tests and design, execute, and close large‑scale electrical test campaigns.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert advising Weapon Systems Teams on architecture, interface design, test asset needs, and other aspects of compatibility.
- Further Sandia's Compatibility Engineering knowledge base through development and maintenance of formal training and coordination of workshops.

Qualifications We Require- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active DOE Q‑level clearance or equivalent required to start.
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field with independent research project.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presentation preparation.
- Experience with Nuclear Security Enterprise laboratories and plants (e.g., Pantex, KCNSC, LLNL).
- Experience in engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects.
- Proven experience on a Weapon System Team and directly with the Department of Defense.
- Knowledge of systems engineering tools and techniques, such as configuration management.
- Experience with project management.
The Aircraft Compatibility organization’s role is critical to maintaining the viability, technical confidence and operational readiness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. The team establishes and maintains compatibility of nuclear weapons with their delivery platforms and conducts laboratory and flight testing, evaluating data, investigating anomalies, and reporting results.
Security ClearanceThis position requires a DOE Q‑level security clearance to start, or an equivalent active clearance with another U.S. government agency. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to maintain clearance.
