Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
Corvid's Launch Vehicle's team is looking to add an experienced telemetry engineer to support development and testing of various launch systems. This position will work to design and integrate telemetry systems used for real‑time data acquisition during a variety of test events – including flight tests, ground tests, automotive testing and more.
Candidate will need to bring a solid technical foundation in related areas, including the ability to integrate telemetry receivers, bit synchronize rs, decommutators, frame sync equipment, DAQ systems, and recorders. The role will not only develop but monitor real-time telemetry links (antennas, RF paths, modulation, signal quality) and understand (to mitigate) dropouts, BER, sync loss, frame errors and timing issues. This opportunity will have a direct impact on programs critical to national defense and next generation system development.
Taskingwill include:
- Configure and troubleshoot IRIG-106 telemetry formats
- Support field operations during live testing, launches, flight tests, or vehicle runs
- Configure systems such as Dewesoft, Curtiss-Wright, Safran, L3
Harris, or equivalent telemetry platforms - Develop test procedures, acceptance tests, and system validation plans
- Generate engineering documentation, wiring diagrams, architecture drawings, and post-test reports
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM field and at least 8 years of experience working telemetry related engineering tasks
- Fundamental understanding of RF Technologies (link budgets, antennas, SNR)
- Strong understanding in at least one (or more) of the following areas: PCM telemetry systems, Ground Station set up, IRIG timing systems, data protocols (RS-422, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet), DAQ systems and sensor integration
- Test operations experience required, specifically an ability to perform real-time troubleshooting (preferred candidate will have aerospace or missile telemetry experience specifically)
- Any experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, networked over IP, and System Administration (windows or Linux) would be beneficial
- Working knowledge of WOSA (Weapon System Open Architecture) is desirable
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan via our generous 401(k) Matching
- Medical Insurance via Blue Cross – including a PPO and High-Deductible offering (with company HSA contribution)
- Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of industry experience (not tenure)
- Career Development and Continuing Education opportunities
- Company-provided life, long-term, and short-term disability insurance
