Role Description

SRI Telecom is seeking an OSP Construction Quality Control Compliance Engineer with relevant OSP inspection experience to contribute across cross-functional project teams. The role includes identifying audit issue violations, reviewing resolved issues for compliance, and ensuring compliance with internal and external safety and regulatory standards while working with OSP contractors and Cox Communications compliance groups.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, evaluate, and analyze aerial and underground facilities for compliance with applicable internal and external safety and regulatory standards.
  • Provide occasional repair guidance and suggestions to OSP vendors and in-house maintenance teams.
  • Contribute to the entry and maintenance of an asset compliance management database system.
  • Collaborate with other teams, utilities, municipalities, and others to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain inspection schedules.
  • Provide quality assurance of locate vendors’ performance on compliance as directed.
  • Inspect Outside Plant based on applicable schedules.
  • Hold field meetings with other utilities, private homeowners, and developers on an as-needed basis.
  • Communicate with residents, city and customer in the field under all conditions.
  • Communicate with jurisdictional employees to understand any changes in make‑ready/permitting.
  • Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles.
  • Enter information into the database.
  • Review make‑ready work with contractors.
  • Issue work to construction contractors.
  • Issue work to locate vendors.
  • Coordinate Cox Service Drop conversions—moving off jump poles or other poles where clearances cannot be met to remove a violation.
  • Participate in ordering materials for various vendors and/or forecasting material needs.
  • Inspect and QC contractor work.
  • Complete as‑built mapping.
  • Assist in locating and QC (quality control) of Cox facilities.
  • Use iPad (or similar) for field inspection/survey work and possess basic computer skills.
  • Use measurement tools safely, access poles on uneven terrain, and work outside for long periods.
  • Complete Pole Aerial Survey Forms and provide field drawings of measured streets and right‑of‑way objects.
  • Engineer new and existing stranded aerial plant with applicable make‑ready required to meet local utility aerial construction codes.
  • Review and correct any information on the Joint Pole Authorization that does not match actual field conditions.
  • Track and report on aerial inspection restoration and completion.
  • Operate a vehicle safely; company vehicle not provided.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Understand and apply Cox Communications Construction Standards.
  • Understand asset owner local, state and federal OSP standards.
  • Ensure that the Cox network is built in a safe manner throughout the system.
  • Reduce costs and increase safety when correcting infractions.
  • Understand applicable Cox State NESC standards and regulations.
  • Understand high‑risk geographic regions and driving factors.
  • Address quality/safety issues and complaints from utility companies and work with internal teams to resolve them.
  • Develop excellent relationships with utility companies.
  • Process large amounts of data requests and communicate effectively back to the team.
  • Experience with aerial make‑ready local utility overhead aerial construction codes (GO128/95 in CA) is required.
  • Exposure to CATV design and installation processes is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, time‑management, written and communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
