Design Safety Basis Engineer
Urenco USA, located in Eunice, NM, is searching for a Design Safety Basis Engineer to work on-site.
Responsibilities- Perform facility design safety basis activities with a focus on process hazard analyses and chemical dose consequence analyses.
- Provide engineering support for calculations, walkdowns, and configuration management.
- Interface with employees and managers at all levels.
- Conduct chemical dose consequence calculations and use modeling software.
- Develop designs in support of facility operations and future projects.
- Perform independent design reviews, verify assumptions and adequacy of calculations.
- Provide technical support for design, installation, and maintenance of site projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with other organizations to resolve technical issues.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and professional rigor.
- Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent; 2+ years direct work experience in a nuclear facility. - Preferred:
Experience performing chemical dose consequence analyses. - Master's or PhD in Physics, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- 5+ years related work experience, including 2 years in a nuclear facility.
- 2+ years experience at a Part 70 licensee.
- Design Safety Basis Development, HAZOP, and Documented Safety Analysis experience.
- Location:
Eunice, NM. - Schedule:
Professional work schedule with minimal night/weekend support; occasional on‑call duty. - Travel: 10% of the time or less as required.
- Security Clearance:
Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level clearance. - Emergency Response: ERO duty may be required, including 24/7 on‑call during designated team duty week.
- Environment:
Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr.

- Starting salary: $98,761 - $146,169 per year, dependent on candidate.
