Job Summary

A Dietary Aide supports the nutritional care of residents by assisting with meal preparation, service, and sanitation. This role ensures residents receive meals that meet dietary guidelines, physician-ordered restrictions, and individual preferences. The Dietary Aide works closely with the dietary team to maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining environment while providing courteous and respectful service to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion food items according to standardized recipes and diet orders
  • Serve meals and beverages following proper portion control and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and dining areas
  • Follow food safety, infection control, and facility policies
  • Stock supplies and assist with inventory as directed
  • Report any resident concerns or changes in appetite to nursing or dietary staff
Qualifications

Required:

  • Food handler’s certification (as required by state regulations)
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Compassion and patience when working with elderly residents

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
