Special Projects Manager

Manages and coordinates the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Oversees a team of project professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure project goals are met. Supervises the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers. Manages the implementation and oversight of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.

Supervises regular site walks and oversees the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects. Addresses gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and communicates potential impacts to the business. Manages the primary point of contact role between the company and colocation providers. Supervises the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance and construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications.

Supervises the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems.

  • Construction Project Management-Project Planning and Execution:
    • Manages and coordinates the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
    • Develops and maintains project schedules, collaborating closely with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
    • Creates and manages project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective project delivery.
    • Oversees a team of project professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure project goals are met.
    • Supervises the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem‑solving papers, ensuring team adherence to standards, effective management of documents, and suitability of all materials for their intended purpose.
  • Construction Project Management-Project Integration and Quality Assurance:
    • Manages the implementation and oversight of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
    • Manages the coordination and integration of tenant fit‑out projects, handling daily interactions during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
    • Supervises regular site walks, ensuring schedule adherence, coordination, and quality throughout the project.
    • Oversees the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, ensuring all systems are operational and meet design specifications.
  • Risk and Problem Management:
    • Manages the evaluation of risk profiles associated with timely project delivery.
    • Addresses gaps in risk identification and mitigation and communicates potential impacts to the business.
    • Develops and manages the implementation of mitigation strategies for major construction project risks to ensure project success.
  • Stakeholder and Vendor Management:
    • Manages the primary point of contact role between the company and colocation providers, ensuring clear and effective communication and team alignment.
    • Develops and maintains key relationships to support internal and external stakeholders effectively, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
    • Supervises the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance, and supporting the resolution of contract issues.
  • Design Coordination and Improvement:
    • Manages collaboration with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications, ensuring team alignment.
    • Provides ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
    • Supervises the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and supporting the resolution of installation issues.
