Role

Summary

The Lead Pastor will serve as the spiritual leader of Weed Baptist Church, preaching the Word of God, providing pastoral care, and guiding the church in its mission to love God, love people, and make disciples. This role requires a heart for rural ministry, a commitment to Baptist doctrine, and a desire to walk alongside a congregation through all seasons of life.

Responsibilities

Preaching & Teaching
  • Prepare and deliver weekly sermons rooted in Scripture and relevant to daily life
  • Oversee Bible studies, Sunday School, and discipleship initiatives
  • Encourage spiritual growth through sound doctrine and practical application
Pastoral Care
  • Provide counseling, visitation, and support to members and families
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other church ceremonies
  • Be present and available to the congregation in times of need
Leadership & Administration
  • Collaborate with deacons and ministry leaders to guide church vision and operations
  • Oversee church functions, including worship services, outreach, and events
  • Support volunteer teams and encourage lay leadership
Community Engagement
  • Build relationships within the Weed community and surrounding areas
  • Represent the church in local partnerships and service opportunities
  • Foster a welcoming environment for newcomers and seekers
Compensation

We offer a range on a package consisting of $60,000 to $70,000, including a housing allowance and all other benefits, consistent with experience and education.

Qualifications
  • A clear calling to pastoral ministry
  • Agreement with Baptist doctrine and the church’s statement of faith
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theology, Ministry, or a related field (preferred)
  • Ordination or willingness to pursue ordination within a Baptist tradition
  • Previous pastoral or ministry leadership experience (rural experience a plus)
  • Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills
  • Meet the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 (KJV)
