Program Manager – Strong Families
Location:
Must be based in New Mexico or the surrounding border areas of Arizona or Texas. While this is a virtual position, the role requires on‑site presence for community engagement.
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program projects including legislative campaigns, events, community outreach, and leadership development.
- Engage community leaders, organizational partners, and community members to meet program goals.
- Maintain and build strong working relationships with community leaders and partners, fostering long‑term collaborations.
- Lead or co‑lead community meetings, trainings, local events, and outreach efforts (door‑to‑door canvassing, site canvassing, phone banks, text banks).
- Create community resources and training materials aligned to program goals.
- Develop and maintain an annual communications calendar for website, social media, email, and earned media.
- Attend campaign and coalition meetings to learn, share updates, strategize, and collaborate with partner organizations.
- Use project management tools and systems to plan, track, and communicate work progress.
- Document qualitative and quantitative metrics and analyze data findings, outcomes, and impact indicators; write program reports.
- Write content for emails, letters, social media posts, and other communications.
- Collaborate with vendors and consultants as needed.
- May supervise volunteers and interns as assigned.
- Travel within New Mexico up to 20 times per year (< 60 days) and out of state 1–3 times per year for conferences or training.
- Create and monitor program project and event budgets in alignment with organizational budgets.
- Oversee, maintain, and update the main organizational database/CRM for individuals, organizations, and program work.
- Accurately track and report lobbying activities; use financial, 501(c)(3), and related systems following protocols and filing documents timely.
- Participate in staff meetings weekly.
- Share community organizing and campaign learnings with the Strong Families team.
- Contribute to strategic direction, act as a role model and coach for community leaders and team members.
- Participate in strategic planning, work plan development, and performance measurement.
- Engage in inclusive wellness and grounding practices.
- Support fundraising efforts, including end‑of‑year campaigns.
- Support the engagement of community leaders in fundraising strategies.
- Support hiring for Strong Families positions as assigned.
- Strategic Thinking and Community Organizing Implementation – The Program Manager understands foundations of community organizing, has a minimum of 5 years experience in nonprofit campaign, organizing, or civic engagement work with diverse and underserved populations, and knows New Mexico communities well.
- Team Member and Problem Solver – A detail‑oriented, high‑performing problem solver who manages multiple projects and tasks, collaborates effectively, and is reliable and accountable.
- Strong Communicator – Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels and from varied backgrounds; attentive to detail and visual presentation; bilingual in English is a plus.
- Data and Systems Skills – Proficient with Microsoft Office or Google Suite, database management, and reporting tools.
Strong Families is a Monday‑Thursday 32‑hour week organization with occasional Friday, weekend, and evening work as needed.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $75,000–$85,000. Benefits include:
