Job Summary

The CNA will provide essential care and support to patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role includes assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with the nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Provide mobility assistance, including help with walking, transferring, and positioning.
  • Maintain patient comfort by adjusting beds, turning patients, and ensuring adequate hydration and nourishment.
  • Medical Assistance
    • Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report changes to the nursing staff.
    • Assist with basic medical procedures under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
    • Collect specimens for lab tests as directed.
  • Observation and Reporting
    • Monitor and document patient condition and care in medical records.
    • Promptly report changes in patient status or behavior to the nursing staff.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
  • Assist with cleaning and sterilization of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure patient rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and linens.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Participate in training and continuing education to stay current with best practices in patient care.
  • Support and assist fellow CNAs and healthcare staff as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Conforms to all applicable agency policies and procedures.
  • Participates actively in continuing education and in-services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and business practices.
  • Assumes accountability for reporting incidents and complaints according to agency policy.

Physical Requirements

Works under a variety of conditions in facilities and offices; ability to work a flexible schedule and travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Moderate noise level; potential exposure to blood borne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.

Physical requirements:

Sitting is required. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally. Travel may be required.

Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Education
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Completion of a Nursing Assistant course and state certification as required
  • Experience
    • One (1) year of experience in a comparable role
  • Licensure / Certification
    • Driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance; not listed in the OIG Excluded Providers list
    • Successful completion of one of the following:
      • Medicare §418.76 (b) (c) training/competency evaluation
      • Competency evaluation program meeting §418.76 (c)
      • Nurse Aide training/competency evaluation program approved by the state and listed in good standing
      • State nurse aide registry standing
      • State licensure program meeting §418.76 requirements
Environmental Conditions

Work in facilities and offices with a flexible schedule; may travel locally. Moderate noise; exposure to blood borne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.
