What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a Captain/ Shift Commander to lead within our Protective Force organization.
Responsibilities- Lead both represented and non-represented Pro Force personnel during operational shift work.
- Implement operational procedures in accordance with DOE/NNSA orders, directives, and operational needs.
- In collaboration with the protective force manager, this position leads subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, work assignments, recognition, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and contributes to performance assessments.
- Effectively collaborate with a multitude of customers and all levels of management to include DOE, NNSA, and SFO.
- Make critical security assessments and decisions, implement protective actions, review security incident reports (SIR), and coordinate timely communications with internal and external stakeholders during emergency and non-emergency security events.
- The selected candidate must be willing to maintain physical fitness requirements (to man postings), work onsite and up to 16 hours a day, including off-hours, weekends, holidays, and in harsh weather conditions.
$87,400 - $144,400
Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Homeland Security, Information Security, Security Management, etc.) plus 5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS + 9 years or no degree + 13 years).
- Supervisory experience, such as Protective Force Operations/ law enforcement.
- Must currently have a TRF-100 certification.
- Must have an active DOE Q-level security clearance to start.
- Knowledge of DOE/NNSA orders and requirements; detailed knowledge of DOE/NNSA Protective Force Operations to include individual and team tactical response.
- Ability to obtain all DOE NTC certifications related to Pro Force, TRF
100 certification, BIT, (Optional) FIC, IFIC. - Basic working knowledge of Environment, Safety, & Health (ES&H) safety requirements.
- Strong leadership experience including writing, communications, facilitation, critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, exercise initiative with minimal direction and or supervision, while working in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with the following Safeguards & Security (S&S) fields:
Protective Force Operations, Physical Security, Technical Security, Vulnerability Assessment, Performance Assurance. - Expertise in development and implementation of operating policies, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to work with sensitive and or classified information.
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
