Title:

Sr. Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic

Location:

Remote in specified city, state, or region; 100% travel required.

Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.Compensation: $32.26 – $48.41 hourly base; eligible for commission and incentive programs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems—including aluminum chassis, brake and air systems, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers—and on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems; fabricate and weld replacement panels, body, and framework as needed.
  • Inspect, test, and use handheld diagnostic instruments and pressure gauges to identify malfunctions; road‑test vehicles to confirm repairs.
  • Manage parts inventory, maintain company‑issued service vehicle, and perform safety and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients, customers, and the support team to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Document work in Repair Orders (RO) using company iOS devices and the TRAIT application; upload photos and complete DOT forms accurately.
  • Operate independently, manage daily schedule, prioritize tasks, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors, and coordinate approvals for repair estimates and purchase orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company safety, health, and environmental policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED; alternative: degree or certification in a related discipline with at least 3–5 years of experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience (preferably refrigerated equipment). If less, higher education or certification may compensate.
  • Valid state driver’s license; at least 21 years old; must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Current DOT medical card with ≥4 months validity or completion of a DOT physical.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Must possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications preferred; required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) and ASE 608/609.
  • Preferred certifications: ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills; logical reasoning and judgment.
  • Physical capability to lift, bend, climb, stand and walk for long periods; perform repetitive tasks.
  • Effective two‑way communication and ability to convey information succinctly.
  • Ability to identify appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Accurate spatial judgment and hand–tool proficiency.
