Job Objective

The Commercial
Journeyman Carpenter will support and execute the safe, quality, and efficient completion of commercial and industrial construction projects within petrochemical, manufacturing, and industrial facilities. Responsibilities include commercial carpentry work related to construction, installation, repair, and modification of wood, metal, drywall, framing, doors, ceilings, flooring systems, and other commercial building components while maintaining strict adherence to site safety standards and project specifications.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 4+ years of experience as a commercial carpenter or carpenter helper on industrial or commercial construction projects.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and shop drawings proficiently.
  • Must have knowledge of commercial construction materials, tools, and carpentry methods.
  • Experience with metal stud framing, drywall installation, suspended ceilings, doors/hardware, and finish carpentry preferred.
  • Experience working in industrial facilities, petrochemical plants, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Must be able to complete basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work a full work schedule and any required overtime with little to no notice.
  • Must be willing and able to follow all safety regulations and site requirements.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work, material quantities, dimensions, and installation requirements.
  • Identify tools, equipment, and materials required for assigned tasks.
  • Recognize workplace safety hazards and implement proper safety precautions.
  • Measure, mark, cut, assemble, and install wood and metal materials according to specifications.
  • Install metal stud framing, drywall systems, insulation, doors, hardware, ceilings, wall panels, flooring systems, and commercial fixtures.
  • Perform and finish carpentry work as required.
  • Repair and modify existing commercial structures and components.
  • Assist with layout and field measurements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with safety standards.

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, climb, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by radio or phone.
  • Will use hands and arms to handle tools, materials, and equipment.
  • May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may work from scaffolding or elevated platforms using required fall protection.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility clothing, respirators, and steel-toed boots.
