Shop Mechanic

Universal Plant Services is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, and turbines. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency within our shop environment. • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, turbines, and other rotating machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
• Utilize precision tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Document all repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts used in accordance with company procedures.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and efficient completion of work orders.

High school diploma required; or equivalent

• 5 years or more of Mechanic experience working on pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, turbines and rotating equipment.
• NCCER Millwright certification helpful.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
• Supply your own basic mechanic tools.
• This is a full‑time position, with a minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on business needs.
• Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Must be able to frequently climb a ladder.

• Prolonged use of the computer.

• Knowledge of manual machine tools, precision, and measurement equipment.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment types, lifting & handling equipment, and other related tools/software.

Pay: $25‑40 hrly DOE
