** Responsibilities
* ** Perform welding, cutting, brazing, and fabrication on heavy highway construction projects
* Repair and modify heavy construction equipment, attachments, and tools
* Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
* Set up and operate welding equipment (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, Oxy‑Fuel, Plasma)
* Ensure welds meet applicable codes, specifications, and quality standards
* Conduct pre‑ and post‑weld inspections and perform necessary repairs
* Work closely with foremen, operators, and laborers to support field operations
* Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in safe working condition
* Follow all company, OSHA, and DOT safety policies and procedures
* Perform grinding, cutting, torch work, and general metal fabrication as needed
* Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites
** Qualifications
* ** High school diploma or GED preferred
* Minimum
** 3–5 years of welding experience
** in heavy civil, highway, or industrial construction
* Proficient in structural and field welding techniques
* Ability to pass welding tests as required (AWS, DOT, or company standards)
* Experience welding carbon steel; experience with stainless or specialty metals a plus
* Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols
* Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus
* Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor throughout the workday
* Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as project schedules requires
