Key Responsibilities
Inspections: Carry out scheduled Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on trucks and trailers.
Diagnostics: Use specialised diagnostic equipment to find and fix electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults.
Repairs: Replace or repair engines, gearboxes, braking systems (ABS/EBS), steering, and suspension components.
MOT Preparation: Get commercial vehicles ready for annual MOT tests.
Record Keeping: Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and health and safety paperwork accurately.
Standard Requirements
Qualifications:
A relevant level in heavy or light vehicle maintenance (such as City & Guilds or NVQ) or proven time-served commercial experience.
Licence: A valid UK driving licence (an HGV Class C or C+E licence is often preferred or advantageous).
Skills:
Strong fault-finding abilities, hand tool proficiency, and knowledge of workshop safety rules.
