Deck Captain

Job Description

The deck captain will oversee the backstage crew and manage all scene changes and prop movements.

  • Assist with set up and strike at rehearsals and performances.
  • Coordinate and manage all backstage activities during rehearsals and performances.
  • Oversee set changes, prop movements, and costume quick changes.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and assist in maintaining a clear backstage area.
  • Communicate with the stage manager to ensure cues are executed properly.
  • Experience preferred, but training will be provided.
Lighting Designer

Job Description

Design lighting concepts, collaborate with directors, producers, and set designers, analyze script and locations, create and adjust lighting plots and schedules using specialized software, and attend rehearsals to adjust designs.

  • Proven work experience as a Lighting Designer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting techniques, equipment, and software.
  • Excellent visual awareness and artistic ability.
Producer

Manage all aspects of a production, working closely with the director and administrator to coordinate design and technical teams, manage budgets, and ensure logistics are in place.

  • Schedule and coordinate production meetings.
  • Track and manage budgets and expenses throughout the production process.
  • Assist in hiring and contracting technical staff, designers, and crew.
  • Oversee logistics of load‑ins, performances, and load‑outs at each venue.
  • Coordinate production timelines and ensure all production elements are completed on time.
  • Attend rehearsals and provide support to the production team.
  • Coordinate rehearsal space and performance venues.
  • Communicate with designers and directors to meet artistic and technical needs.
  • Assist with production reports, ensuring all paperwork is accurate.
  • Work with the technical team to manage touring logistics including set up and strike.
Scenic Artist

Paint and detail set pieces according to designs provided by the scenic designer.

  • Paint sets, backdrops, and props to achieve the desired look.
  • Work closely with the scenic designer to match color schemes and textures.
  • Ensure all scenic elements are completed on time and maintained throughout the run.
  • Touch up scenic elements as needed between performances.
Scenic Carpenter

Build and install set pieces according to the scenic designer’s plans.

  • Construct flats, platforms, and other scenic elements.
  • Work with the scenic artist and design team to execute the set vision.
  • Assist with load‑ins, tech rehearsals, and strikes.
  • Maintain and repair scenic elements as needed throughout the run.
Stage Manager

The stage manager works closely with the director and producer to oversee production details.

Stage Management Duties
  • Review institutional and union rules regarding production.
  • Create and maintain a contact sheet that includes all production personnel.
  • Create and distribute emergency contact forms.
  • Work with the director to create a rehearsal schedule.
  • Work with the director and producer to create a production schedule.
  • Measure dimensions of each performance space, create a basic ground plan.
  • Tape out ground plan roughly to scale in rehearsal space(s).
  • Electronically distribute daily rehearsal calls.
  • Figure out specific needs of production (knee pads, rosin, music stands, etc.).
  • Communicate frequently with director and design team about production vision and goals.
  • Assist production manager in planning first production meeting.
  • Prepare and restock Green Room’s SM kit.
  • Prepare and print stage manager’s rehearsal script.
  • Distribute cast and company scripts.
  • Distribute daily rehearsal calls.
  • Have emergency contact forms available at each rehearsal and performance in both digital and hard copy versions.
  • Call breaks: 15 minute breaks after 120 minutes, call meal breaks if rehearsal longer than 5 hours.
  • Protect safety of cast as a first priority.
