Role Description The Gas Engineer’s Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position located in Coatbridge. The assistant supports qualified gas engineers in daily tasks such as preparing tools and materials, helping with installation, maintenance, and repair of gas appliances and systems, and ensuring work areas are safe, clean, and organized. Responsibilities include basic manual handling, following instructions and safety procedures, recording simple job details, and assisting with customer visits.
The role may involve traveling locally with engineers, observing and learning technical processes, and providing general support to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Practical skills and aptitude for hands-on work, including basic tool handling and willingness to learn gas engineering tasks.
- Awareness of health and safety practices, including the ability to follow safety instructions and use personal protective equipment correctly.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to support engineers on-site and interact respectfully with clients and colleagues.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic, with the ability to follow directions and complete tasks with attention to detail.
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills for noting job details, materials used, and simple measurements.
- Full, valid driving license and ability to travel locally as required is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or a similar trade environment is an advantage but not essential.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training or certifications (such as gas safety-related courses) supported by the company.
