Position SummaryIntern supports the assigned department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project inspection and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Compensation for this position is $20-$23 hourly, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.
EssentialFunctions And Responsibilities
- Help prepare drawings and sketches for documenting progress in construction
- Support the creation of Inspectors Daily Reports
- Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
- Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
- Develop basic inspection skills through hands‑on experience
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members
- Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
- Collaborate with engineers, construction project supervisors, and other multidisciplinary team members
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication
- Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials
- Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity
- Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's motor vehicle screening
- High school graduate with interest in infrastructure projects
- Coursework in a related field
- Previous internship or relevant work experience
This position is primarily field-based and requires working outdoors on active construction sites. Interns should expect exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, noise, and heavy equipment operations. Work will involve standing, walking, and occasional lifting. Work may be conducted outside in heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid conditions.
A company vehicle will be provided for project-related travel.
