Things that move people. Protect soldiers. Power industries. We serve customers in industries spanning aerospace and defense, specialized vehicles, turf care and fuel systems. This role is in Textron System's Uncrewed Land & Air Space business area.

The Uncrewed Land and Air Systems team in Hunt Valley is seeking a skilled System Safety Engineer to support development of advanced ground robotics and airborne systems. Our group leads multiple cutting-edge defense programs, and we are looking for engineers who are eager to apply broad technical expertise to deliver safe, reliable, mission-critical robotic solutions. In this role, you will identify hazards, assess and categorize risk, and recommend mitigations to reduce the probability or severity of mishaps that could impact personnel, equipment, or the environment.

You will collaborate closely with government partners, vendors, and end users to ensure the safety and compliance of Department of War weapon systems and platforms. You will apply established scientific and engineering principles to guide the development and implementation of effective safety measures that reduce risk to the warfighter. As a system safety engineer on our team, you'll work in a dynamic environment supporting comprehensive system safety programs across a diverse portfolio, which may include radar systems, unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, surface vessels and support equipment, or laser systems.

You will review safety artifacts for compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance, while following established plans and quality standards. The role also provides opportunities to improve processes, enhance methodologies, and contribute to the advancement of the system safety discipline.

In addition, you will lead and mentor junior engineers, supporting their growth and strengthening the team's capabilities.
