Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Project Manager to oversee and deliver all project objectives related to civil engineering and associated disciplines for aviation clients. This role involves managing airside and landside infrastructure projects, ensuring successful execution across planning, scope management, scheduling, budgeting, team coordination, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Manage assigned projects to meet established scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants to develop risk-averse project scopes and fees.
- Develop and implement detailed project‑specific plans, including Project Management Plans and Quality Management Plans.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules and monitor progress.
- Oversee subconsultants to ensure alignment with project goals and quality standards.
- Identify risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and manage changes including extra work orders and open‑end contract task proposals.
- Communicate project status, updates, and challenges to internal teams and external stakeholders regularly.
- Participate in financial status meetings relating to project budgets and forecasts.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to understand preferences and deliver projects with high quality.
- Prepare progress reports, review invoices, and lead project status presentations.
- Support marketing efforts by assisting leadership with go/no‑go decisions, proposal developments, and client interviews.
- Coordinate all technical resources within the project team to ensure delivery of successful, high‑quality outcomes.
- Provide coaching and mentorship through one‑on‑one check‑ins and project debriefs to recognize achievements and promote continuous improvement.
- Lead and manage team performance by setting clear expectations, goals, providing feedback, and fostering professional growth.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to obtain registration in relevant states within 3 months of employment.
- Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in civil engineering, preferably including aviation‑related projects.
- CAPM or PMP certification.
- Experience designing airside airport civil infrastructure (runways, taxiways, taxilanes, RSA improvements) consistent with FAA guidelines and circulars.
- Familiarity with multiple project delivery methods such as Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, and Public‑Private Partnerships (P3).
- Work is primarily office‑based (:95%) with occasional site visits under varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry).
- Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required during field work.
- The office environment is well‑lit and comfortable without exposure to hazardous conditions.
