SYSTEM ENGINEER

Assist in preparing instrumentation & control system design criteria with client representatives to formalize specific requirements of the project. Serve as engineering project engineer and/or team engineer. Assist in coordination with team/client personnel, architects, and other design discipline consultants in developing project instrumentation and control system requirements. Seek information from vendors/clients/manufacturers to coordinate technical design information related to instrumentation and control systems.

Assist project manager in meetings with clients and internal design coordination meetings with engineering staff. Assist other junior engineers with design reviews and engineering design concepts. Assist in design, implementation, testing and commissioning of control systems including DCS and PLC/RTU/HMI. Assist in design logic for motor controls and interlocks in MMC and VFD and design control system interfaces to third-party/OEM systems and devices.

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required with courses in Microprocessor Application, Digital Electronics, Servomechanism, Advance Control Theory, Industrial Electronics and Network Analysis in addition to courses normally required as a system engineer for graduation. Basic knowledge of data collection, storage, transfer and reporting for control systems using historians and OPC. Basic knowledge of SCADA/ telemetry system design using PLC/RTU/HMI, radio, CDMA and microwave communications.

Basic knowledge of PLC programming languages including all IEC-61131-3 standard languages. Possess a strong understanding of applicable codes and standards including NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70, NFPA 110, NEMA, IEC, ISA, ISO, and UL508. Basic understanding of P& and presentation techniques.
