Verdence provides personalized service focused on in-depth financial planning and advice serving ultra-high net worth families, business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, elite athletes, and entertainers. The firm assists families of significant wealth in effectively allocating capital through long-term planning and portfolio strategy. They also help to facilitate access to public / private alternative investments, real estate and unique direct deal flow via idea generation, external manager selection and due diligence.

To reduce complexity for its clients, the team manages tax accountants and attorneys while facilitating asset acquisition, bill payment and concierge services. They also advise on legacy preservation through estate planning, philanthropy, and family services such as governance, succession planning, risk management and education of future generations.

About the Role

The Director serves as the senior planning resource for clients whose wealth spans multiple entities, multiple generations, and multiple states, and works alongside the investment and advisory team to deliver integrated, coordinated plans that reflect each family's full financial picture.

This position also owns the strategy and execution of Verdence's family office deliverables. That means defining what we produce, how we produce it, and how it gets better over time. The Director sets the standard for the quality and consistency of planning for Family Office.

This is a client-facing leadership role. The Director manages a team, shapes how the firm approaches complex planning work, and holds a high standard for how that work is delivered.

Serve as the primary planning contact for a defined client book. Coordinate with outside estate counsel, CPAs, and institutional trustees on complex transactions and ongoing administration.
  • Integrated Tax Strategy. Apply CPA experience to combine income tax and estate tax planning in a single, coordinated approach. Advise on entity structures, business succession, liquidity event planning, and annual gifting programs. Work alongside the investment team to align tax strategy with portfolio decisions.
  • Family Office Deliverables. Own the strategy, development, and ongoing improvement of Verdence's family office service deliverables. Define what comprehensive planning looks like for each client tier, build the frameworks and templates that support consistent execution, and identify gaps in the firm's current capabilities. Work with firm leadership to expand the family office offering as the client base grows.
  • Team Leadership. Manage and develop junior planning staff. Set standards for how client deliverables are prepared, reviewed, and communicated. Contribute to planning methodology, process, and technology. Participate in business development and new client onboarding as the firm grows.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination. Partner with advisors, compliance, and operations to deliver a connected client experience. Contribute to annual planning reviews, family meetings, and generational transition work.

  • Ten or more years of estate planning and tax experience serving ultra-high-net-worth clients. Prior background in a family office, multi-family office, private client law firm, or Big Four accounting firm with a dedicated wealth practice.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring a team. Comfortable owning a process and raising the standard for how it is done. Able to give clear direction without micromanaging.
  • Able to translate complex planning concepts into plain language. Strong written communication. Comfortable presenting to clients and families, including multi-generational settings where financial backgrounds vary across the room
