Geriatric Nursing Assistant/ GNA- Skilled PT16 (3:00pm-7:00am) EOW
As an employee of Maryland Masonic Homes, this position shall be committed to working in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles of the Maryland Masonic Homes. Overview: Provide direct oversight of staff on Healthcare to ensure continuity of care. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or designee.
Schedule: 3:00pm-11:00pm and 11:00pm-7:00am

Candidates must hold an active CPR and First Aid certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or an AHA-approved training provider.
Candidate must submit a resume to be considered. This is an hourly position, rate is based on license issue date.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities :
- Works under the direct supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
- Provided direct hands-on nursing care to residents and reports any changes to Nurse as appropriate.
- Accurately obtains and reports vital signs and weights.
- Responsible for overall safety/needs of all residents.
- Provided meals/supplements and fluids to meet resident needs.
- Completed GNA documentation as required.
- Assists residents as assigned to promote independence in all aspects of
- ADL’s; and is accountable for all care assigned during scheduled shift.
- Provided care and evacuated residents during a fire or disaster.
- Has adequate knowledge of Emergency Preparedness manual.
- Maintains all aspects of Infection Control while in the facility.
- Assists in maintaining and keeping the environment, common areas and resident rooms clean and orderly.
- Assists in taking residents to scheduled appointments.
- Reports malfunctioning/unsafe equipment.
- Maintains resident privacy and confidentiality.
- Promptly answers call lights, bells or intercom system to determine and respond to resident needs.
- Maintains skin integrity per protocols.
- Reports changes/skin breakdown immediately.
- Appropriately utilizes all equipment such as: wheelchairs, Geri-chairs, footrest, braces, splints, etc.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Must have successfully completed an approved program for Nursing Assistants in the state of Maryland or has been approved as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant through the guidelines per the State of Maryland.
- Has taken or has been “grandfathered” into the Maryland State Competency Evaluation administered per State of Maryland guidelines.
- Is in the process of or has been placed on the Maryland Registry for Geriatric Nursing Assistants.
- Minimum of one year long term care experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities
:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, and implement the delivery of quality, direct, hands-on nursing care.
- Must be knowledgeable of the standards of care as they relate to the geriatric nursing assistant role in long-term care.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents.
- Must be able to accurately gather and report information concerning a resident’s condition to the Nurse.
- Must attend all mandatory in‑services, and must meet governmental guidelines regarding annual in‑service training.
- Must participate in annual Dementia training.
- Must be able to meet the standards of the MMH MVP Customer Service Program.
