Howwill you make an impact?
The EHS Specialist will establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident‑free, healthy work environment that is compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. They will develop and maintain safety policies, procedures and employee communications regarding safety guidelines, and train employees in safe workplace practices.
What will you do?- Develop and implement general safety policies and procedures in accordance with company requirements to be followed by site personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and national environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Consult with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs, and any applicable environmental permits or compliance requirements.
- Partner with operations, engineering, work‑cell leaders, and operators in the completion of risk assessments.
- Support the layout of manufacturing workspace to optimize a safe working environment.
- Participate in new product integration and other management of changes projects.
- Formulate appropriate safety policies and guidelines.
- Inspect or tour facilities to detect existing or potential accidents, incidents, and health hazards.
- Recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Keep managers and employees alerted to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, chemicals, and any other hazardous substances.
- Develop training programs and communications to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
- Participate in accident/injury investigations.
- Maintain safety files and records.
- May report to management on health and safety issues and concerns.
- Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge
- Develop, implement and support general EHS policies and procedures to be followed by employees in compliance with local, state, regional, and national regulations.
- Working knowledge of US‑OSHA and EPA compliance requirements associated with manufacturing operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build working relationships with individual employees, site leaders, regional EHS team, and site contractors.
- Ability to prioritize tasks with a focus on completing tasks in a managed approach with attention to technical accuracy and within established timelines.
- Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Familiar with new equipment introduction and validation processes; including user‑defined criteria, FAT and SAT reviews, PSSR, and other steps to ensure the appropriate review and validation of equipment prior to site operation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e‑mail skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Preference given to candidates with education and/or training specific to EHS in a manufacturing environment.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate creativity in identifying solutions that balance supporting customer and operational goals while ensuring EHS requirements are in compliance.
- Competitive base salary. Pay range: $62,400 – $98,800. Salary determined by qualifications, experience, location, education and internal equity.
