Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has a immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Plumber.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, piping, valves, and fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and plumbing emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to residents.
- Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety and efficiency.
- Perform preventative maintenance to avoid plumbing issues and system failures.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when specialized plumbing services are required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Ensure compliance with state and local plumbing codes and health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with residents and staff, demonstrating patience, respect, and professionalism. Other duties as assigned.
- Must be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED; vocational training or apprenticeship in plumbing preferred.
- Valid plumbing license or certification as required by state or local law.
- Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly individuals.
- Ability to pass background checks and health screenings.
- Experience working in retirement facilities, hospitals, or similar residential environments.
- Knowledge of ADA plumbing compliance and accessibility standards.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outside during inclement weather.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include:
