About This Role
Position:
Software Engineering in Textron System’s Uncrewed Land and Air Systems division. Engaged in multiple cutting‑edge development programs for defense applications. The role requires experience in software development for robotic/autonomous applications, including software/hardware interface development, integration, and fast‑paced teamwork.
- Provide engineering support for current and next‑generation uncrewed ground and air products.
- Participate in software development across all product lifecycle phases—from concept through lab and offsite integration and evaluation.
- Estimate, design, implement, review, test, document, and release software components.
- Take technical leadership/ownership of software components and systems.
- Integrate internal and third‑party software solutions into products.
- Interface directly with customers.
- Collaborate with software engineering team and other disciplines to create functional systems.
- Mentor teammates.
- Perform trade studies.
- Support onsite and offsite integration and test.
- Drive process improvement.
- (Potential) Lead software development efforts.
- Estimate scope and manage tasks, generate assignments, and report status.
- (Potential) Attend industry conferences/events to gauge competition and find new opportunities.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, or master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
- Understanding of robotics systems: sensors, actuators, mechanics, algorithms, and software.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Unix‑based OSes.
- Shell scripting skills.
- Knowledge of Object‑Oriented Analysis/Design.
- Experience with Git or Mercurial.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Experience interacting directly with customers.
- Team collaboration and independent work.
- Travel up to 15 % of the time.
- Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Preferred: professional experience in autonomous driving/flight or robotics integration and field testing.
- Preferred: experience with Micro Pilot autopilot, MOOS‑DB/IvP, Qt, OpenDDS, Docker, network/serial/CAN interface development.
- Preferred: frontend technologies (CSS, JavaScript, Type Script, REST APIs, SQL/No
SQL databases). - Preferred: experience with Jenkins, Jira, static code analysis tools, AI software development, MIL‑STD‑882E, UML or MBSE tools.

$110,500 – $167,900 per year.
