Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of technicians as the subject matter expert on all processes within your area of responsibility
- Champion safety requirements in all designated zones and work locations
- Successfully lead process work and review for quality and adherence to standards and procedures
- Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
- Integrate and test the Leo satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and electrostatic discharge (ESD) controlled environment
- Rig the bulky, sensitive flight hardware using rigging and critical lifts
- Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required
- Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and dial calipers
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
- Run functional and environmental testing on units, including basic troubleshooting
- Use computer software programs for running tests
- Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment
- Shift schedule will primarily be on second shift but can vary depending on production or launch schedules
- Be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, domestically or internationally as business needs demand
The Process Lead will work closely with cross‑functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on flight hardware integration processes. This position requires skill and experience in mechanical assembly, propellant loading, rigging, electrical checkouts and satellite troubleshooting. You will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to process and integrate the Kuiper satellite for launch, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.
BasicQualifications
- High school diploma, associate's degree, or equivalent
- Experience with precision torque, measurement and inspection devices (including automated and manual torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multimeters)
- Four or more years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
- At least two years of experience operating and directing cranes
- At least two years of experience working with rigging equipment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a "U.S." passport and meet customs entry requirements, including required vaccinations
- Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing operations environment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, aviation, military or other high‑reliability operating environments
- Experience in a fast‑paced processing environment
- Experience working with foreign object debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and clean room requirements
- Six or more years of experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
- Demonstrated ability in reading and understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
