JOB DESCRIPTION
* Industrial Electrician I - $21.29 (Grade LU7)
* Industrial Electrician II - $26.83 (Grade LU10)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor II, performs highly skilled technical electronic work in the performance of a variety of calibrations, modifications, maintenance, and repair of electronic, instrumentation, and monitoring equipment and systems. The Industrial Electrician II is responsible for the maintenance, operation and development of a multi-layer highly complex SCADA system and communication network, while planning and organizing work to meet current priority and operational requirements of the Sellers WRP, Lift Stations and all related Waste Water treatment appurtenances.
Employee also installs, alters, maintains and repairs electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade and local and national electrical codes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Documents results of work performed and prepares labor and material estimates for future projects.
* Modifies or adjusts work assignments according to priority of importance to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with safe principles, techniques and procedures.
* Maintains records on labor, equipment, material and work progress.
* Requisition s equipment and material for maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
* Monitors, maintains, modifies, calibrates analog and digital equipment and controls and flow proportional equipment and systems and associated electronic equipment such as recorders, analyzers, meters, transmitters, metering and monitoring equipment.
* Maintains and calibrates various transmitters which regulate and monitor flow, differential pressure, liquid levels and test equipment and maintains and calibrates telemetering equipment and systems.
* Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on Variable Frequency Drives, PLCs, RTUs, communication radios and various SCADA related controls.
* Maintains, installs and repairs electrical motors, controls, panel boards, switch gear, lighting and generating equipment.
* Locates and corrects power failures and motor trouble on electrically operated equipment, machinery and apparatus.
* Installs electrical additions and alteration in compliance to local and national codes.
* The majority of position duties are required to be performed on-site.
* Inspects, coordinates and assigns work in progress.
* Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared or undeclared emergency.
* Performs other related job duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of electronic theory, instrumentation systems, PLC's, SCADA systems, VFD's and microcomputer based equipment is essential.
* Knowledge of methods, materials techniques and procedures.
* Knowledge of the electrical trade and hazards associated with high voltage, maintenance, modification and calibration of electronic equipment and systems.
* Knowledge of computer software programs, i.e., Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
* Skill in the use of, but not limited to, multi-meters, ammeters, hi-pot tester, meggar, process meters, hart-communicator, lap top, PC and other related electrical and SCADA test equipment.
* Skill in the use of a variety of tools and electronic monitoring and test equipment.
* Skill in the use and operation of hand and power tools and related equipment used in the electrical trade as well as the water treatment industry.
* Ability to lead and direct assistants with the ability to train and educate new staff members on all related work.
* Ability to coordinate multiple work tasks and employee job assignments at various work locations.
* Ability to plan, organize and communicate priority of work to electrical staff in a manner to achieve productivity and efficient performance.
* Ability to prepare and maintain accurate work records.
* Ability to identify and troubleshoot defects in a variety of electrical systems and equipment.
* Ability to understand and learn new electronic systems and equipment.
* Ability to work from sketches, blueprints and electrical/electronic diagrams.
* Ability to maintain accurate records, order parts, equipment and material.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate (Vocational degree/Certificate in electronics preferred) with four (4) years of electrical experience associated to the industrial utility field and three (3) years of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) with field instrumentation experience related to the system; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
