Boilermaker

This role supports construction, modification, maintenance, and structural installation projects on launch pads and ground support equipment at Cape Canaveral. You will work extensively with large-scale steel structures, piping systems, pressure-containing equipment, and launch infrastructure supporting Falcon and Starship operations. The position is primarily outdoors in a fast-paced construction environment where safety, quality, and reliable schedule execution are critical.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, modify, and repair structural steel, tanks, vessels, piping systems, platforms, and launch support equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and construction specifications to complete work accurately.
  • Perform fit-up activities including layout, measuring, marking, and aligning large structural components prior to welding and installation.
  • Assist welders during fabrication and field installation activities to ensure efficient and high-quality completion of projects.
  • Install and maintain process piping, utility systems, cryogenic infrastructure, and support structures associated with launch operations.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, chain falls, come-alongs, and rigging equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform structural modifications and field repairs on launch pad infrastructure to maintain reliability and readiness.
  • Work closely with welders, ironworkers, pipe fitters, crane operators, and engineers to coordinate and execute construction and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while strictly adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and startup activities for new or modified systems as required.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues on structural, piping, hydraulic, pneumatic, and boiler-related systems as needed.
  • Perform field service and repair activities on equipment and infrastructure to minimize downtime.
  • Carry out routine and corrective maintenance tasks as a maintenance technician on relevant systems and structures.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience as a boilermaker, fitter, structural fabricator, heavy industrial craftsman, or in a closely related trade.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, and fabrication documents.
  • Hands-on experience using common fabrication tools, rigging equipment, and installation tools such as grinders, torches, chain falls, and come-alongs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repair of industrial mechanical systems.
  • Experience in rigging and safe handling of large structural components and equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights safely and comfortably.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes challenging weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards in a construction or heavy industrial environment.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with field service work on industrial or heavy construction sites.
  • Experience in fabrication of structural steel and pressure-containing equipment.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and their maintenance.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems and their maintenance.
  • Experience working with boiler systems or similar pressure vessels.
  • Exposure to cryogenic infrastructure and related support systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including welders, ironworkers, pipe fitters, crane operators, and engineers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, piping, and structural systems.
  • Attention to detail when inspecting completed work for compliance with drawings and specifications.
