Position: Kinder boost Elementary Para Educator (Part Time)

Purpose Statement

The job of the Kinder boost Elementary Para educator is done for the purpose/s of assisting a regular classroom teacher in the supervision and instruction of individual and/or small groups of students and providing clerical support to teacher/s and staff.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.; adhering to safety practices and procedures; administering first aid; operating standard office equipment and office technology;

and using curriculum and instructional techniques.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; strategies for teaching/learning; age appropriate activities/behaviors;

cultural differences of student population; health standards and hazards; keyboarding; methods of instruction and training; office equipment and technology; recordkeeping and record retention practices; and school safety and security practices.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data;

and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; remaining flexible and calm when under duress;

organizing tasks; working with frequent interruptions; and working as part of a team.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include:

working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. There is some opportunity to impact the organization's services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Testing:

District Proficiency Test or AA Degree or 60 College Credits
