Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Mortgage Loan Officer role is based in Cody, WY. The Mortgage Loan Officer will work directly with active military members, veterans, and other borrowers to originate VA and conventional mortgage loans, from initial inquiry through closing. Day-to-day responsibilities include consulting with clients to understand their financial goals, collecting and analyzing documentation, guiding applicants through the loan process, and coordinating with underwriting, processing, and closing teams.
The role involves explaining loan programs and regulations, providing accurate rate and product information, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines and company policies. The Mortgage Loan Officer will also build and maintain relationships with real estate agents and other referral partners, while delivering high-quality customer service and consistent follow-up.
- Experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar mortgage origination role, with a strong understanding of loan products and borrower needs.
- Knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including familiarity with VA, FHA, and conventional loan programs.
- Understanding of Underwriting principles and documentation requirements to effectively structure and submit complete loan files.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and support clients throughout the loan process.
- Relevant state mortgage loan originator license(s) or the ability to obtain required licensing within a specified timeframe.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems and basic office software; comfort working in a regulatory and compliance-focused environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Cody, WY, collaborate with team members, and build relationships with local real estate and referral partners.
- Prior experience working with military borrowers or VA loan programs is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in finance, business, or a related field is a plus.
