Job Title
The duties of this position involve a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting veterans and their caregivers through education, outreach, and direct clinical interventions.
DutiesThe key duties include:
- Establishing and maintaining an ongoing education program for veterans, caregivers, community agencies, students, and staff.
- Developing and facilitating a Caregiver Support Program (CSP) focused on direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for VA facility staff and the community.
- Creating and implementing a plan for outreach to veterans and veteran caregivers who may benefit from the CSP program services but do not presently use VA for their health care needs.
- Directly supervising the VA HCS Caregiver Support Coordinator(s), Program Support Assistant, and other interprofessional staff assigned to the Caregiver Support Program.
- Coordinating program implementation with multiple clinical services across all campus locations within the VA facility.
- Providing clinical interventions to the veteran and caregiver populations served by the programs.
- Serving as a consultant to other VA professionals and administrators on program-specific activities.
- Acting as a liaison to Veterans Integrated Service Network Program (VISN) CSP Program and the VA Central Office (VACO) Program.
- Being the VA HCS point of contact for all inquiries and outreach requests regarding eligible PCAFC and PGCSS caregivers.
- Identifying unmet needs of the caregiver population, their families/significant others, and caregivers.
- Working collaboratively with facility, VISN, and VA Central Office staff to develop and implement solutions.
- Performing administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised.
- Working collaboratively with internal staff, VISN and VACO leadership, and external stakeholders to expedite service delivery.
- Providing consultation and briefings to other staff and internal/external stakeholders on the special needs of caregivers.
Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
PayCompetitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.
Parental LeaveAfter 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care SubsidyAfter 60 days of employment, full-time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
RetirementTraditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
InsuranceFederal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
TeleworkAvailable on an ad-hoc basis.
