Role Description The Process Technician, Plastics, Injection Molding is a full-time, on-site role based at the Y-Tex facility in Cody, WY. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting injection molding equipment to ensure consistent production of high-quality plastic components. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring machines, performing mold changes, optimizing process parameters, and addressing equipment or process issues to minimize downtime.
The technician will inspect parts for quality, document production data, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve efficiency and reduce defects. Additional responsibilities include following safety and housekeeping standards, supporting preventive maintenance activities, and assisting in training other team members on proper molding procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues with injection molding equipment and processes.
- Experience with quality control practices, including inspection, measurement, and documentation of plastic parts.
- Knowledge of process engineering principles related to plastics and injection molding, including setup, optimization, and cycle improvement.
- Ability to perform or support preventive maintenance on molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Experience providing training or mentoring to team members on molding processes, safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Prior work in a plastics manufacturing or injection molding environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
- Commitment to safety, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or coursework in plastics, manufacturing, or industrial technology is a plus.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform hands-on work with machinery and materials.
