Tired of Big 4 bureaucracy? Want real ownership over your career?

Stonehan Accountancy, P.C. brings institutional discipline and entrepreneurial energy to the real estate developers, family offices, syndicators, funds, and HNW investors we serve. Founded by a former Big 4 tax accountant and CFO of a $1B real estate lending fund, we deliver white-glove, institutional-caliber tax and financial guidance while building a firm our own people are proud to grow with.

Owner James Bohan, CPA, MRED, creates an environment in which employees and processes can flow and develop naturally. His leadership encourages self-management, autonomy, and mutual trust across the team — so if you want real responsibility instead of layers of review, you'll fit right in.

The Role

As Tax Supervisor/Manager, you'll own the delivery of a full range of tax services for a portfolio of sophisticated clients — primarily real estate pass-throughs, S-corp management companies, and the individual returns of the owners behind them. This isn't a training role. You're expected to arrive ready to plan, review, advise, and lead, with direct access to firm leadership and real input into how we build our systems.

Tax

Planning & Compliance
  • Deliver innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance for real estate, family office, and private equity clients
  • Handle partnership, joint venture, corporate entity, and combined state tax returns
  • Conduct primary and secondary review of partnership, S-corp, C-corp, and High Net Worth individual returns
  • Apply strong working knowledge of Subchapter K partnership taxation
  • Direct state tax compliance, composite filing, and withholding activity
Client & Engagement Ownership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, managing expectations, deadlines, and satisfaction
  • Plan, execute, and complete client tax projects across a range of industries, including private equity
  • Advise clients on business and process improvements as a trusted business adviser, not just a preparer
Team & Firm Contribution
  • Manage, direct, and mentor tax team members and outsourced preparers, with input on performance reviews and lead team members' professional growth
  • Partner with firm leadership on practice development and business development activity
  • Contribute to improving processes, training, and internal efficiency as the firm scales
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, EA, or JD required
  • 4-5+ years of federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or professional services
  • Proficiency in US GAAP, partnership returns, joint venture and non-corporate entity returns, and combined state compliance
  • Experience with partnership structuring, entity formation, and M&A preferred
  • Exceptional client service, communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced tax software experience (GoSystem-RS/Fast Tax or similar Big 4-level platforms)
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring instincts
Growing With Us

Stonehan is still a growing firm — a genuine advantage for the people who join us. Every team member gets hands-on mentorship from CPAs and firm leadership (not a distant training program), support for continuing education and licensure, a clear path from staff to senior or client-facing roles, and exposure to sophisticated clients most firms our size never see. We reward initiative, entrepreneurial thinking, and follow-through.

Benefits

& Culture
  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision for the employee
  • Flexible work location and schedule, especially outside of busy season — we aim for reasonable 40–60 hour weeks during tax season and 20–40 hours the rest of the year, with at least one full day off every week
  • We will never ask your vaccination status
  • Clear communication, realistic workloads, recognition, and leadership that listens
