Kootenai County is seeking an experienced Administrative Secretary to support the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). What You Would Be Doing

As the Administrative Secretary, you will serve as the key administrative support to the three County Commissioners. You will coordinate public meetings, prepare agendas, draft official resolutions, and serve as Clerk of the Board during public sessions, all while ensuring compliance with Idaho Code.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and distributing agendas, public notices, and meeting minutes.
  • Coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies and other County departments.
  • Assisting with grant documentation, public bid processes, and legal publications.
  • Managing the BOCC calendar, official correspondence, and departmental website.
  • Providing excellent service to the public and internal stakeholders.
  • Handling accounts payable entries, travel coordination, and purchasing.
  • Supporting advisory boards including the Aquifer Protection District and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Processing official records and maintaining accurate, confidential files.

Do You Have What It Takes?
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience in administrative or secretarial support.
  • At least two years of relevant administrative experience.
  • Excellent communication skills— both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured.
Important Details:

This position occasionally requires attendance at evening or off-site meetings. As a deputized Clerk of the Court, you’ll be responsible for recording, transcribing, and attesting to official BOCC meetings. Strict confidentiality and professionalism are expected in all duties. You must also follow Idaho’s public records and open meetings laws.
