Healthcare Construction Project Manager III

This position oversees major capital construction and multi-year program portfolios across complex, active clinical environments. Serves as the senior authority for healthcare construction strategy, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-level risk management, ensuring patient safety, clinical continuity, and long-term organizational objectives are maintained throughout large-scale and high-risk construction initiatives.
Responsibilities- Manages a portfolio of major clinical construction projects, including imaging expansions, surgical suite upgrades, and infrastructure modernization.
- Leads feasibility studies, design development, code compliance reviews, and contractor negotiations.
- Serves as senior liaison with clinicians, regulatory bodies, leadership, and design teams.
- Ensures all capital projects meet federal, state and healthcare specific codes (NFPA, FGI, DNV/NIOSH).
- Leads system-wide environmental and safety risk programs.
- Oversees multimillion-dollar capital budgets and bond funded programs.
- Leads negotiations with A/E firms, construction managers, and specialty consultants.
- Establishes long-term capital planning and replacement schedules.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction management required; including at least 7 years experience in healthcare construction.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Advanced certifications such as CHC, LEED AP, DBIA strongly preferred.
- Expert understanding of MEP/structural systems, life safety codes, public works standards, and healthcare construction delivery models.
- Prior experience approving complex technical packages, value engineering options, and compliance plans.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to climb stairs or ladders.
- Must be able to kneel, stoop or crouch.
