North Idaho College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in contemporary digital photography. This position plays a central role in our dynamic Art Department, teaching photography and art courses while advising students pursuing Associate of Arts degrees. With a focus on digital camera operation, post-production workflows, and portfolio development, you will guide students as they build technical mastery, creative voice, and professional readiness.
The successful candidate will teach a full load of courses each semester using in-person, online, and interactive video formats; develop engaging syllabi and demonstrations; design meaningful assignments and critiques; and provide timely, constructive feedback that advances student learning. You will assess outcomes, participate in departmental initiatives, mentor adjunct faculty, contribute to recruitment and committee service, and support exhibitions and programming through the Boswell Corner Gallery.
Maintaining current knowledge of evolving digital photography tools, editing software, and emerging practices is essential.
We are seeking an artist-educator with comprehensive knowledge of digital photography, including exposure, composition, lighting, and workflow, and advanced proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. The ideal candidate brings experience with digital portfolio platforms, a strong understanding of contemporary photographic practices, and the ability to prepare work for exhibition. Equally important are exceptional communication skills, effective classroom leadership, technological fluency, and a demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse learners in a community college environment.

Minimum QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Photography, or Master’s degree in Art with an emphasis in photography, is required. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds.
Starting pay range$52,359 - $72,670
Work Site LocationCoeur d' Alene Campus
Work ScheduleThis position has summers off, with pay and benefits spread over 12 months!
