Job Description
Operations Engineer for Coeur D'Alene, Idaho provides engineering support for the North Idaho distribution system. You will work closely with local representatives, line crews, and CPCs to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective design and operation of the electric distribution system.
- Perform load‑flow analysis using Synergi and evaluate the impact of system modifications and new load service requests.
- Develop and issue switching orders for planned and unplanned work and system reconfigurations.
- Partner with Distribution Planning to support area‑wide load service studies and monitor system performance, including feeder loading, voltage regulation, and protective device coordination on primary distribution circuits.
- Maintain subject‑matter expertise in applicable codes and standards, including NESC, WAC, and other relevant design and regulatory requirements.
- Provide engineering and design support for capital construction projects, assist with field construction activities, and perform project management and engineering oversight as directed by the local office manager.
- Manage department‑driven budgets associated with the North Idaho service area.
- Accountable for overall engineering needs of the assigned area, including all responsibilities outlined above.
- Provide detailed cost estimates, economic analysis of alternatives, and ongoing project cost analysis.
- Perform project management to schedule projects and provide engineering support throughout construction.
- Prepare detailed equipment, material, and project specifications.
- Provide specific technical support and training to other departments related to maintenance and normal and emergency operation of the electric system, facilities, and associated equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in an ABET‑accredited Engineering Program;
Electrical engineering discipline and/or direct operations engineer experience preferred. - Effective and flexible communication skills.
- 0-1 years engineering work experience preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of engineering work experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years engineering work experience required.
- Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience required.
- Minimum of six (6) years engineering work experience required.
- Demonstrated skills illustrating use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to area of expertise.
- Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering.
- Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
- Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self‑directed.
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Coeur D'Alene, e at least three days per week, including Mondays and Tuesdays, with an additional day determined by the manager.
