What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is professional, detail-oriented, and able to remain calm and respectful in difficult or contentious situations.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, and site disturbance regulations
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • The ability to exercise tact, discretion, and independent judgment
  • Comfort working both in the field and in an office setting
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED plus at least two years of relevant industry experience or training
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field with two years of experience applying adopted codes and standards
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Certifications & Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Code Enforcement Officer Certificate within a reasonable timeframe
  • Must pass a pre-employment and random drug screening and background check
What You  Do

As a Code Compliance Officer I, you’ll support the County’s code enforcement program by investigating complaints, conducting inspections, and helping bring properties into compliance with County ordinances and adopted building codes.

  • Investigating zoning, land use, site disturbance, and building code concerns
  • Conducting property inspections and field investigations
  • Responding to citizen complaints and working with property owners toward compliance
  • Issuing notices, warnings, and corrective actions as needed
  • Preparing reports, documentation, photographs, and case files
  • Coordinating with other County departments and outside agencies
  • Assisting with legal actions, including preparing evidence and testifying in court when required
  • Maintaining accurate records and clear communication throughout each case
  • You  also attend meetings, stay current on best practices in code enforcement, and serve as a knowledgeable resource to the public and County staff.
