Position Summary: The Safety Analyst supports the Director of Safety by transforming operational, regulatory, and workforce data into actionable insights that strengthen safety performance across all sites. This role manages the company’s safety information to facilitate trend analysis, risk identification, incident investigation, and knowledge sharing across the company. The Safety Analyst serves as the corporate “super user” for the company’s safety information system and provides analytical, systems, and coordination.

This role manages safety data, maintains safety standards and documentation, supports incident learning, and ensures the organization has accurate, timely access to data to drive continuous improvement. They will partner closely with site safety teams, operations leaders, HR, and external consultants to enhance safety systems, reporting, and culture.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities Of The Position Safety Information System Management
  • Serve as the corporate “super user” for the safety information system, owning system configuration, optimization, and ongoing administration.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and profiles across all sites.
  • Support sites in building and improving system functionality, including dashboards, reports, inspection lists, workflows, and forms.
  • Leverage the system to facilitate cross‑site learning and sharing across all levels of the company, to feed into frontline risk assessments, job hazard analysis (JHAs), and other processes.
Data Analysis, Reporting & QA/QC
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends, test hypotheses, and detect emerging risks.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports for leadership and site teams.
  • Conduct QA/QC on safety data, reports, and analyses to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Support incident investigations by analyzing contributing factors, systemic patterns, and root causes.
  • Track corrective actions and verify closure and effectiveness.
Coordination & Stakeholder Support
  • Coordinate external consultants, including auditors—manage scheduling, track progress, monitor budgets, and ensure deliverables.
  • Prepare presentations, briefings, and communication materials for the Director of Safety and executive leadership.

Technical Knowledge
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and leading indicator frameworks.
  • Understanding safety principles, regulatory requirements in our operating jurisdictions, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis).
Required Education and Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in safety, operations, analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience working with safety data, regulatory reporting, or incident investigations.
Preferred
  • Experience in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or other high‑risk environments.
  • Professional safety certifications (e.g., ASP, GSP, CSP, CMSP) or progress toward certification.
  • Experience with MSHA reporting and mining‑specific safety systems.
  • Experience developing dashboards or analytics tools for operational environments.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish
