Manager, Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Program

Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: $114,000 - $150,000 annually, plus shift differential and on-call compensation

Kootenai Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate nursing leader to oversee our Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Program. This position offers the opportunity to lead a highly respected program dedicated to providing trauma-informed care and advocacy for survivors of violent crime.

The Manager of the FNE Program is responsible for program leadership, staff development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, community partnerships, and ongoing program growth. This individual will work collaboratively with healthcare providers, law enforcement, victim advocacy organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of forensic nursing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program, including scheduling, payroll, staffing, and program administration
  • Oversee program development, education, training, and competency assessments
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate peer review, chart audits, and quality assurance activities
  • Manage program budgeting and identify opportunities for growth and sustainability
  • Serve as a liaison with law enforcement, prosecutors, victim services, and community partners
  • Support recruitment, retention, and professional development of FNE staff
  • Facilitate staff meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing education
  • Participate in long-range planning, program evaluation, and strategic initiatives
  • Provide expert testimony and assist forensic nurses in court preparation as needed
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Idaho Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 5 years of Emergency Department experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) or Forensic Nurse Examiner
  • SANE-A and/or SANE-P certification (must hold at least one certification upon hire and obtain the second within two years)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred

  • ENPC, CEN, or CPEN certification
  • Completion of a Forensic Nurse Program
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, training, or teaching experience Why Kootenai Health?
