Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute and promote products aligned to sales strategy in the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with the Neuroscience District Sales Manager on daily sales and strategy for product promotion.
- Analyze local market; develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize appropriate product use.
- Maintain current product, disease, competitive, and market reimbursement knowledge.
- Determine and monitor optimal resource allocation (e.g., budgets, time) in territory.
- Use advanced selling and negotiation skills to communicate effectively with target audiences.
- Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
- Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed.
- Manage travel and promotional budget.
- Complete required monitoring/reporting (expenses and call reporting) using approved systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Vanda policies.
- Meet industry-standard credentialing requirements for healthcare providers/customer facilities/state/local governments.
- Complete ad-hoc projects as needed.
Experience:
- BS/BA with GPA > 3.0.
- Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales experience preferred; may be considered for “Associate” if not met.
- Atypical anti-psychotic and/or orphan drug experience preferred.
- Specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management preferred.
- Reimbursement experience preferred.
- Existing relationships (or within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in territory preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
- Self-starter with proven above-average results; “hunter” mentality.
- Strong territory relationships/knowledge.
- Ability to travel (including overnights); must reside within territory geography.
- Work hours may include meetings outside normal hours.
