Custody Technician - We Will Train You

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office – Kootenai County Jail

Position Summary

This position supports Detention Deputies during the inmate booking and release process. Duties include direct contact with inmates, maintaining and updating inmate records, and performing various jail-related clerical tasks. The position also requires operating the jail's control systems, including doors, gates, video surveillance, and intercom systems, requiring strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $22.96 per hour DOE (includes $0.50 shift differential)

  • Retirement:
    Public Employees Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI)

    • Pension plan with 5-year vesting

    • 11.96% employer contribution

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Have at least six (6) months of work experience

  • Possess or be able to obtain NCIC (National Crime Information Center) certification within six (6) months of hire

  • Be able to carry and use pepper spray
