Overview
The part-time Funeral Service Assistant provides support for funeral services, performing a variety of manual and office tasks before, during, and after services to help ensure events run smoothly and as planned. The role aligns with the company's mission and values and adheres to company policies and procedures.
Location:
4024 - Kansas.
- Assist with removals of decedents (location specific) as needed.
- Assist with preparation of the deceased and casket.
- Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and other personal keepsakes; ensure proper care and storage of these items.
- Prepare documents related to services, cremations, and maintenance as directed by management.
- Perform office duties such as answering phones, operating office equipment and systems, and processing transactions as required.
- Run errands for supplies, floral deliveries, documents, and related items.
- Serve as an usher and may assist with parking cars or other transportation needs.
- Drive funeral home vehicles for services and to accompany families as needed.
- Assist with visitations, memorial and funeral services, including setup, dressing and casketing remains, and delivering family items and flowers.
- Greets and receives client families and others entering the office for information and assistance.
- Accommodate the needs of the family during a service and/or visitation.
- May wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required.
- Be available to work beyond standard business hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push 150 pounds or more.
- Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite and databases; willingness to learn required.
- Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to follow instructions given over the phone or in person.
- Ability to use a personal computer and type.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with others.

- Work indoors and outdoors in various seasons and weather conditions.
- Professional dress is required when in contact with families.
- Drive company-owned vehicles in the surrounding community with varying traffic conditions.
- Frequent, continuous standing for up to 6 hours per day.
- Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usage.
