ELC Support Staff Transition Coordinator/Parent Liaison

Purpose:
Utilizing evidenced-based materials, the Transition Coordinator/Parent Educator will work with parents of preschool aged students on topics of social-emotional, physical and academic topics, as well as the transitioning to the kindergarten classroom. The Transition Coordinator/Parent Educator reports directly to the Early Learning Center building administration.
Qualifications Profile:
- Education:
must have at least one of the following:
Associates Degree from an accredited institution, or At least 48 college credit hours from an accredited institution, or Pass the State Para-educator test - Pass a background check
- Pass a TB skin-test and basic physical
- Valid state-issued driver's license or state-issued
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with individual or groups of parents under the direction of the building principal to facilitate social-emotional, physical and academic needs of students.
- Work with individual or groups of parents providing information and helping to secure community resources for the family as it pertains to the student needs.
- Interaction with students and families at different times during the school day to provide information and transition of students to the next grade level.
- Works closely with community partners at the Early Learning Center as well as other school district facilities, especially Community Elementary School.
- Data recording and collection, skill building support, and working with multidisciplinary teams is required.
- Organizing information and working with classroom instructor on awareness of student concerns and needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by the supervisor.
- Meet all safety requirements as directed by USD 445 and building Principal.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and other Supervisors.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Physical Requirement/Mental Demands/
Environmental Conditions:
- Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
- Requires the ability to frequently stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires the ability to walk frequently.
- Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires the ability to frequently use repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and mouse use.
- Requires the ability to frequently kneel/squat, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
- Requires the ability to frequently lift and carry items 25 lbs. or less. Periodically up to 50 lbs.
- Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
- Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- Requires the ability to occasionally work outside with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Requires timeliness and regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
- Work environment includes the visitation to private residences and adverse conditions within the family home. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
Equipment Uses:
- Standard school equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and playgroup equipment.
Travel Requirements:
- Travels to other district buildings and communities/districts for professional meetings as required.

Base Starting Pay: $15.80/hour. May be modified based on education or experience. Benefits:

Position follows the school calendar at 185 days.
