Outside Sales Representative – Midwest Territory

Root Plastics is looking for an Outside Sales Representative to help grow our presence across the Midwest. We manufacture tough, lightweight, all-plastic infrastructure products built for the real world — including our rootBOX handhole systems used in fiber, broadband, electrical, irrigation, and utility applications.

This role is for someone who likes being in the field, building relationships, solving problems, and helping customers find a better box. Yes, we said box. We make a really good one.

You'll be responsible for developing and managing customer relationships across the Midwest, with a focus on broadband contractors, ISPs, utility distributors, municipalities, engineers, and infrastructure partners.

Key responsibilities include:

• Build and manage a sales pipeline across the Midwest territory
• Call on contractors, distributors, ISPs, utilities, municipalities, engineers, and other decision-makers
• Present and demonstrate Root Plastics products, including the rootBOX handhole system
• Identify new opportunities in fiber, broadband, and utility markets
• Support product approvals, submittals, quotes, and customer follow-up
• Attend trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings
• Work closely with internal teams on pricing, production timing, product feedback, and customer needs
• Be the face of Root Plastics in the territory — professional, responsive, and easy to work with

The right candidate is self-motivated, personable, organized, and comfortable selling technical products to practical people. You do not need to be a plastics expert, but you should be willing to learn the product, understand the market, and get in front of customers.

Ideal qualifications:

• Outside sales experience, preferably in broadband, telecom, utility, construction, distribution, or infrastructure products
• Strong relationship-building and follow-up skills
• Comfortable making cold calls, setting meetings, and developing new accounts
• Ability to explain product advantages clearly and confidently
• Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest territory
• Basic CRM, email, quoting, and pipeline management skills
• A sense of humor is helpful. A fear of the word “handhole” is not.
