Residential Broadband Technician
Hourly base pay: $22.02 – $33.08 per hour. You will work on site at a Cox location; remote work is not an option.
Responsibilities- Install, disconnect, and troubleshoot video, high‑speed internet, telephony, and automation services.
- Drive a company vehicle between office or home, warehouse, and work sites safely and in accordance with all laws and company policies.
- Monitor Cox’s work enablement system throughout the day for schedule changes and assignment information.
- Communicate with the Comm Center for onsite support and routing assistance.
- Interact with customers and educate them about services and products.
- Work under supervision and consult with supervisors and other technicians for advice as needed.
- Ensure that service quality meets or exceeds industry and company performance standards.
- Participate in scheduled team meetings and attend job‑related training.
- Work with alarms, low‑voltage electricity, and color‑coded wires.
- Maintain accurate and high‑quality recordkeeping of transactions.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED; post‑high school education is a plus.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to meet equipment and uniform use requirements (e.g., ladder weight limits).
- Ability to distinguish technical devices and equipment, including color‑coded items.
- State and municipal certifications and licenses required by law.
- Successful completion and maintenance of a background check, including any additional requirements for specialized projects or services.
- One year of related work experience in a comparable hands‑on trade role.
- Minimum one year of direct customer service experience.
- Proficiency with PC and Windows software.
- Stable employment history.
- Ability to work required shifts, overtime, and travel as business needs dictate.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in service installation and repair in a telecommunications environment.
- Preferred:
Spanish proficiency for some locations. - Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship; no OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship is available.
- Carry and use tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Distinguish colors of wire and equipment.
- Frequently bend, stoop, and crawl.
- Ladder weight capacity: 375 pounds (including body weight, tools, equipment, PPE, etc.).
- Ladder and lift usage: 1AA ladder, 325 pound body weight limit, 500‑foot roll of RG 11 Messenger Cable (40 lbs), 1000‑foot roll of Tri‑Shield (28 lbs), 63‑lb., 28‑ft extension ladder, equipment up to 72 inches in height.
- Ability to climb ladders, utility poles, and work at heights.
- Ability to work in small spaces (crawl spaces, attics) and outdoors in extreme weather.
- Minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off (PTO) per month and seven paid holidays each year.
