Job Title

Roles and responsibilities:

Assist classroom teacher with classroom activities, providing individual support, small and large group support;
Assist classroom teacher in managing student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations, implementing positive behavior support strategies and behavior plans;
Maintain classroom routines and assist with behavior issues at the direction of the classroom teacher;
Assist students with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting and mobility depending on the student's needs;
Assist students with any personal or adaptive equipment and assistive devices;
Help maintain a safe and organized learning environment, assisting with classroom setup and organization;
Communicate with teachers and other professionals as part of the team ensuring effective support for students;
Provide the classroom teacher with information and data about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences;
Assist in supervision of students in various classroom and school activities, during recess, transitions between classes, accompanying students to their "specials";
Supervise and monitor class when teacher is out of the room
