The Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Colchester. The Technician will carry out planned maintenance tasks such as servicing ventilation and extraction systems, supporting fire damper testing, assisting with F-gas A/C servicing, and conducting ductwork cleaning and basic safety checks. Responsibilities include visiting commercial client sites, following maintenance schedules, accurately recording work carried out, and reporting any defects or repair needs.
The Technician will also help ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, follow company procedures, and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and tidy condition. Collaboration with the wider team, clear communication with clients, and adherence to health and safety standards are essential parts of the day‑to‑day work.
- Relevant technical skills and experience in building services or maintenance (e.g., ventilation systems, extraction systems, ductwork, basic mechanical or electrical tasks).
- Understanding of compliance and safety-related activities, such as fire safety equipment checks, PAT testing, and awareness of legionella and F-gas requirements (training can be provided for the right candidate).
- Ability to interpret work orders, follow planned maintenance schedules, and maintain accurate records and reports for all tasks completed on‑site.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a safety‑first mindset when working on client premises and using tools and equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different commercial sites in and around Colchester as required.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in a technical, mechanical, or electrical field is preferred but not essential with equivalent experience.
- Willingness to undertake additional training and certifications related to ventilation, fire safety, PAT testing, and other compliance services.
